“My name is Mike Sanders and my wife and I are part-time residents in Olhao and I was one of David’s early recruits into the ASB Group. Unfortunately around COVID time I had to give up riding on health grounds and now at 83 can no longer drive my locally based Austin-Healey either. We have decided, reluctantly, to sell this vehicle which is currently in a specialist garage in Loule having pre-sale cosmetic treatment.
The car is a July 1958 100/6 convertible model, build number BN6L/1614 and first matriculated to Portugal from South America in 2007. it was given a registration number of 06-DH-83.
We have a copy of the build certificate from the AH factory in Abingdon supplied by the Motor Industry Archive at Gaydon which confirms that this car is an original with matching numbers. This car is genuine and legal in every way.
The car was built left hand drive for export and delivered to Lima, Peru where it was first registered on 1.1.59. We have a copy of the local log book and original Peruvian plates.
The car remained in the same ownership until his death in 1975 when it went into storage. It remained unused for over 25 years until being bought as a restoration project in 2000.
The car was only partial complete when it was moved to Portugal in 2004. Porto customs eventually agreed to admit the car and allow matriculation with no tax to pay as the “Clube Portuguese Automoveis Antigos, the arbiters in these matters, had agreed to classify and register it as original and a good and authentic example of the marque and type. The UK was still a member of the EU at this time!
The CPAA car register number is 5632 and our membership number 1771. This registration is important as it exempts the car from road tax or MOT providing it passes the 5 yearly Club inspection and thus qualifying the car for a special insurance rate based on kilometres. I currently pay 38 euros per year for comprehensive cover based on 3000 kilometres per annum.
In December 2008 the car was still incomplete but I bought it with the intention of completing the rebuild with the assistance of a competent local garage.
By 2013 the car was running and drivable and has recently passed its 5 year inspection.
These cars are special and need a special type of owner. It is after all the quintessential 1950’s English sports car with all its idiosyncrasies!
I am giving the ASB membership first option on this sale as I would like to use part of the proceeds for a decent donation to the ASB Children’s Home Charity.
The sale includes loads of spare parts, books, magazines, manuals, legal and financial forms, receipt, etc.

TRAIL BIKE RIDING

Whether you’re an old hand or a complete newbie to the dirt, we can accommodate you. For first timers we offer an easy intro, with a little session on tips for safety and general off road riding skills. More proficient riders can be stretched with more challenging routes and terrain, but this isn’t intended to be an Enduro training school, it’s a trail riding experience. Travelling little used routes and hidden tracks  with wonderful sights, to make your offroad experience a more memorable and above all enjoyable time.

The newer bikes are a combination of lightweight and agility (250 cc) yet provide enough excitement for the more experienced rider as well. The old faithful Suzuki is a 400cc so depending on your experience you may choose your ride.
